Creating Chances Springboard Program
Over the last 2 years, Lantern Club has been proud to partner with Creating Chances an organisation that prides itself on helping kids in local Canterbury-Bankstown schools. Creating Chances played a huge role in helping kids and parents during the COVID-19 lockdown by providing support and helping to deliver online learning resources. A massive component of Creating Chances is ‘Springboard’ which delivers wellbeing and world traditional games to local kids.
The program which finished in December 2022, directly impacted over 350 local primary students saw kids become less disruptive in the classroom, develop greater confidence in themselves as well as leaning to respect and give other kids a fair go.
As great as the Springboard Program is and as much as the Team here at Lantern Club want to let you know about it here in this blog, we though it would be best for us to let the school kids and teachers who participated in the program tell us how it helped them.

“The changes I have experienced since the program have given me a lot of confidence in myself, the program has taught me how to believe in myself regardless of my bad thoughts”

“The challenges I have face are not always understanding the instructions from my teacher so she thinks I am being disrespectful. I don’t ask questions when I don’t understand so no one laughs at me”

“The changes I have experienced are giving my friends the respect they deserve and being fair, not worrying about the score if we are losing as it is just a game.”

“My friends talk to me better and we don’t fight over a game. I also feel better about playing a game to just have fun which has helped me with other students that play because they are not scared to play with me.”

“I believe all students benefited from the start of the program. They would look forward to Friday not because it is the end of week but because creating chances were coming in. This program needs to be in all schools.”
