Mingara Leisure Group Provides $10,000 to Flood Relief for Central West NSW
The recent floods in the Central West of NSW have left a trail of devastation for many communities. Unbelievable images showing the speed and power at which these floods have inundated homes, businesses and farms have been seen on various media channels and have touched many of us as, we try to understand the enormity of the situation for people in these communities. The loss of property, livestock, income and life is difficult to comprehend. In true Australian spirit, times like this see neighbours come together and communities strengthen to help each other. Sadly, it’s a long road ahead for many towns in the Central West.
As we witnessed earlier this year in the equally devastating floods in Northern NSW, local clubs in these communities are unable to fulfil their purpose of providing safety, comfort, and refuge for their communities during these times. They too, have suffered devastating loss and feel distressed because they are unable to offer practical support to their members and broader community when they really need it. For decades, communities have looked to their local club for exactly this. It’s what we do.
To aid affected communities in the Central West region, ClubsNSW have called upon our industry to help. Clubs within Mingara Leisure Group – Mingara Recreation Club (Central Coast), The Westport Club (Port Macquarie), Lantern Club (Sydney), Springwood Sports Club (Blue Mountains) and The Greens – The Entrance (Central Coast), are donating $10,000 to Disaster Relief Australia to aid the flood disaster relief efforts for communities in Forbes, Parkes, Cowra, and Wagga Wagga.
Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) deploy teams to help in times of natural disasters. DRA unites the skills of Australian Defence Force Veterans, emergency responders and civilians to rapidly deploy disaster relief. The role they play is not only important to assisting communities in times of crisis, but also to give purpose to Veterans and the valuable skillset they hold. We are proud to support the incredible work they do on the ground helping communities practically in times of desperate need.
We are proud to act on behalf of the clubs in Central West NSW to offer financial assistance to such a vital community service at a time of immediate need.
